Marina took a plate, bowed slightly, and said, "Merci beaucop!"

Then she left the kitchen, hopefully allowing Luo to not explode.

Luo squeaked. That was French! Oh my GOD that was adorable. He was kind of really glad she left because that gave him time to hyperventilate. Which he took a moment to do. Then another moment. Then he squeaked again, and took his plate OH AND HIS SODA THAT TOO into the living room to sit beside her on the couch. She hadn't started the movie!
He pressed play. There mission accomplished BROS ON AN ADVENTURE TIME IS NOW.

Marina scooted over to the furthest couch arm, still concerned that they were about to watch really weird porn.  And then puppies and kittens were happening onscreen.  Aww, it wasn't porn at all!  Marina drank her soda in relief, and ate...and OMG ate because this was fucking delicious.  The garlic and leeks blended together...like wow...

She almost forgot about the movie.  She certainly forgot about staying super far away from Luo.  She'd sort of migrated back so that they were almost (uh oh) touching.

Luo tried very hard not to squeak in her presence. He just ate his food. It turned out REALLY GOOD holy crap he'd have to call his mom and tell her he didn't  burn it so she could compliment him and then laugh when she got off the phone.

He made a little frownyface for a second, then, because his mom was notorious for not quite hanging up before beginning to do this. And she did it every time.

Then Marina's arm brushed his and he squeaked anyway. DANG.

Luckily there was a pug on tv and it was distractingly cute. Holy crap did he want a pug to go on adventures with. What? I mean an AKITA. For. PROTECTION. Of. His stuff. Yeah.

PUG AND KITTEN BFFS.

Marina paid attention to the movie and the food because paying attention to Luo might prove her downfall.  What if they kissed?  ...What if they didn't kiss?  What if Marina bolted?  She could imagine herself speeding home on her Vespa and then curling up in the dark and regretting every single thing.  It was maddening.

What if they hugged?  What then?  Cuddles?  Even worse, hugging and kissing at the same time.

Nope, better to concentrate on eating the delicious freakin' food.  Yum!

Luo ate his food, because he had not burned it, which was great! He'd have to remember this recipe as being hard to fuck up. Now just not to fuck up the REST of what he was doing. Which was.. eating. And. Watching the movie. Which he could totally do! He did this almost every day!
So he ate his food. When the plates were empty, he took both of them to the kitchen, and returned with two more bottles of soda! He scooted one over to her side of the table and opened his own, managing not to squirt himself in the face. Which was more of a feat for him than you'd think.
So now it was just movie-watching and soda-drinking time. Unless it was hugs time. WAS IT HUGS TIME? oh god.

"So..." said Marina, hands on the soda bottle.  She held the ramune in a way that was entirely too suggestive.  "How do you--" To make matters worse, she rubbed the bottle too, trying to find the magic button that opened the thing.

Marina realized what it looked like and froze.

Luo, thank Percy, was oblivious. He just took the bottle and opened it for her, because he was too busy not thinking about her rubbing the bottle NOT THINKING ABOUT IT NOT THINHKGASLDFKJDFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

He handed her back her bottle and commenced turning the first of fifteen shades of red.

Marina took the ramune and glanced at him.

"Are you feeling okay?"

Their elbows. They were touching.

Oh wait no he could handle this. HE COULD TOTALLY HANDLE THIS. He squeaked. AGH THAT WAS NOT A MANLY NOISE OF VIRILITY AND SEXUAL PROWESS FFFFF "yes am fine" SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK.

He took a deep breath, and  he smiled! Hi. I'm Luo. Hi. Hi I'm Luo. Hi.

On screen, an orange kitten met a very attractive white kitten, and they got along swimmingly.

Marina smiled too.  She reached over and moved a strand of hair out of his face, from where it had gotten stuck behind his glasses.

"I hope you're not sick!"

Yeah. Some pick-up line, right?

Luo froze up for a second there. She brushed hair away from his face and he turned the second, third, and fourth shade of red in his repetoire. "Um- no?" Oh my god was she- -s--she was hitting on him SHE WAS TOUCHIN' HIM ALL SEXY-LIKE wait no she was just moving his hair right.

Marina drew back. Wow, that was awkward. Okay. She looked around the room and scratched the back of her head.

The pug was wandering through a field of flowers or something. Marina was a tad distracted, though. Boys! So confusing.

There was an incredibly awkward silence. :|

The silence was very long.

There were pugs and kittens, but they seemed very far away.

"Um," said Marina. She looked at Luo. Her tongue poked out of the corner of her mouth. Crap. He was Japanese. Ugh. What did one do here? Just...ask? Was that polite? What if it wasn't polite to ask. What if...There weren't any courses on stupid flings--WAS THIS A FLING? WITH A BOY? Red alert! Ahhh!

"Can I...hug you?"

Ahh! The question was out! Ahh! It sounded really stupid, too. Marina recoiled after asking. She'd meant to ask something else entirely but it came out as just 'hugs' and she was doomed. Dooooooomed. DOOMED!
