Luo was watching Milo and Otis harder than he'd ever watched it before. This was so that there wasn't really an awkward silence! It wasn't really working though. THEN SHE MADE A NOISE OH GOD so he looked at her.

OH UM. He squeaked! In a positive tone! UH, SURE, HUGS ARE PRETTY GREAT _"Yes" yes they are pretty great I vote we have hugs time. Time for hugs. HUGS TIME. CB

Luo continued freaking out internally.

"Yes?" said Marina, repeating it with a nod. 

She freaked out, too. How to hug him how to hug him uhhh oh my God this was so hard. She kind of reached her hands out? That was a start.

Luo... well. He hugged his mom? But hugging other people was a new and scary thing and he wasn't sure how go to about it. He. Um. Luo reached out his hands too. They were almost around her waist? Kind of? He stifled the urge to squeak.

Marina moved closer. Her hands kind of rested on the insides of Luo's elbows. What were those, elbow pits? Um.

"You can...hug me too?"

Baiser, Luo, it's partly your fault that this is so awkward. Stupid MEN.

Don't hate, Marina. Don't hate. Luo just doesn't... hug. It's not your fault. It's n- okay yeah it's his fault. He never goes out. People come to him to get needles stuck into their skin. He is good with that part! It's the.. arms.. and the- oh god do your bodies touch? He didn't even wagh wagh wagh

"Okay- um-" He turned red. I'M SORRY I SUCK AT HUGS DDD:

"What?" Marina lifted her hands away from his arms, because he looked distressed. What the hell! Men were supposed to like hugs from women. This wasn't anything like what Marina had ever heard or read. Men were supposed to be rude and obnoxious, smelly, rough, and pushy. And Luo was just not like that. At all. He was human. It pissed Marina off so much, she bit her lip and cursed in her head.

Marina's heart began to flutter, try as she might to scare off the weird feeling with swear words in her mind.

Luo turned several entirely new shades of red! Then he giggled. It was in the top ten most adorable noises of all time, just barely beaten out by the sweet little sheepish smile that curled across his face. And, as if on cue, a tendril of hair chose this moment to attack his nose. He focused on it, nearly crosseyed, and blew it away. Then he looked back at Marina. Um. Okay. A little rise of his shoulders asked a question.

Can it be hugs time now?

And then she made out with him.
